With Movember 2019 in full swing there’s no better time than now for growing a perfect moustache. We’ve come up with a few simple ways for you to get that Mo looking good and feeling fantastic.

Commitment (Commitment to the cause)

There’s no way around it, growing a perfect moustache takes commitment. Whether it’s a Magnum PI stache or the infamous handlebar moustache, it’s gonna take time. To grow a decent handlebar stache takes at least 3 months of pure unadulterated commitment. You need to stay the course. Once you get to where you want to be, children will stare and women will fawn over your display of pure manhood. And of course, you’ll get all sorts of people having conversations with you on why the stache suits you or not.

Constraint (Let it Grow)

Here’s where it gets tricky. Resist the temptation to trim or shave that stubbled upper lip of yours. Let it grow. As it’s growing and coming into its own you’ve got time to decide what type of stache you actually want to grow. Not every stache suits every man, figure out what works for you and what style you want to live with for the rest of your life.

Cleanliness (Keep it Clean)

As your stache grows you’ll soon discover that, that bad boy is a sponge for beer, whisky, soup etc. You may want to wash that pint away or give it a good clean every day, but don’t. Grooming experts recommend that you wash your facial hair with gentle shampoo just 1-3 times per week at the most.

Consecrate (Beat the Itch)

Anoint your stache. Let the oil flow. Use good quality beard/stache oil. Massage your stache and upper lip daily to help soften your whiskers and stimulate blood flow around the hair follicles to increase hair growth. Check out our other blog post: What’s the Use of Beard Oil?

Make sure you check the ingredients of any stache products that you buy. It’s really important that they do not contain DHT (hormone derived from testosterone) blockers. DHT blockers hinder the growth of body hair so it could make growing that stache harder, then you’ll experience stache withdrawals and wonder if you’ll ever achieve the lofty heights of manhood that you are searching for.

Some DHT blockers are Lavender oil , Tea Tree oil, Pumpkin Seed oil, Emu oil, zinc, soy and rice bran.

Chill Out (Reduce Stress)

Find ways to chill out and relax. Stress can elevate cortisol levels, and this stress hormone can suppress your moustache growing hormones.

Sleep more, lack of sleep reduces testosterone levels. Therefore, get six to eight hours of sleep for healthy testosterone levels which promote hair growth. This all helps in growing a perfect moustache.

Conditioning (Get off the couch)

If you don’t already have a regular exercise program, start one today! Do it for your stache! Not only will you feel better, improve your sex drive and sleep sounder, it will increase your metabolism causing better blood circulation leading to better facial hair. Who knows every man with muscles and a mo gets the girls!

Consume (Eat a balanced Diet)

Most men love to eat and whilst your growing a mo it’s more important than ever. Eat foods rich in protein such as fish, chicken, beans, and eggs, to encourage your facial hair to get growing. As well as foods high in vitamins; A, B1, C, and E which promote hair growth and that’s what you’re wanting. Long, luscious locks of hair that can be shaped into an icon of masculinity.

Customise (Stache Time)

At the 4-week mark it is time to start styling your stache. It’s time for your untamed, wild upper lip locks to start being formed into the style you want and others will envy. You need a comb and a top quality stache wax.

Here’s what you need to do:

When your whiskery heaven reaches the length you want, go spend the time and money at a barber to help fine-tune your shape. The bonus is you get a free whisky or beer.

May your Movember grow steady and strong!
